Since the Beginning, Porchlight Has Championed Racial Equality and the Preservation of Black History.Â
In June 2020, amid nationwide protests for racial justice and equality, Porchlight reaffirmed its commitment by providing free technical services for demonstrations supporting this cause. This included setting up lighting, sound, and stage equipment, which enabled some grassroots organizations (who we still support today) to provide a higher-quality demonstration.
Every year, Porchlight makes a contribution to the rescue and rehabilitation project at the National Opera House in Pennsylvania. In addition to being home of the first the first permanent African-American Opera company in the Country, the home often hosted visiting celebrities and athletes who were excluded from the local segregated hotels.
